Mobility aids are designed to be used when there is disability fracture or injury to the lower extremities or during post-operative recovery.  Depending on the severity of the injury, a permanent or temporary period of partial- or non-weight bearing of a limb may be required. Crutches transfer weight from lower body parts to upper body parts through arms.
